The Royal County Down Golf Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Ireland. It is a 36-hole golf course which has been divided into 2 courses, the Championship Course and the Annesley Links. The Championship Course has a total area of 6,580 meters and was ranked as the fourth best golf course in the world. My friends and I visited the Royal County Down Golf Club in December, last year. It was a truly memorable experience for us, one which will live long in our memory. We reached the royal club by taking a flight to the George Best Belfast City Airport. The golf club is located around 45 kilometers away from the airport so we took a cab to reach our destination.
This golf club is extremely well cared for. The golf links are well prepared and every blade of grass is perfectly trimmed. The atmosphere, sceneries and the courses themselves are all spectacular. Moreover, the hills of sand which are around 60 feet up above the golf course add more beauty to this golf club. Inside the club house, there is a restaurant with quality food, a swimming pool, a bar and a gym.
The entrance of the golf club is the first thing that caught our eyes. It is lined with high rise trees which give a great look. At the reception, we saw a crowd of people had gathered because some local tournament was in process. We waited for about half an hour but didn’t get bored because of the great atmosphere there. We watched the people there and marveled at the beauty of the golf club while waiting for our turn to get in. We were lucky to get in while the tournament was in full flow so decided to just sit in the balcony area and watch the action unfold. It was the last day of the tournament so there was a decent crowd in and finally a winner was crowned.
With the tournament over, we were able to get a chance to play golf at the courses. It was an amazing experience. We enjoyed playing golf and explored the course to the full extent. The weather was pleasant too which helped us in our exploration. Afterwards, we went to the restaurant of the club house and enjoyed a hearty meal.
Overall, we loved our stay at the Royal County Down Golf Club and would love to visit it again someday in the future.
